The Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta is organised by the Yacht Club Scheveningen in the Netherlands. The regatta takes place annually in early summer and is the biggest sailing event on the sea in the Netherlands.
The regatta consists of four days of inshore racing and the challenging location on the North Sea coast with tidal waters makes it a special event for every sailor. The full race days are accompanied by evening dinners and entertainment in the harbour.
The regatta attracts up to 3,000 sailors each year and has continued to grow in popularity since the first North Sea Regatta was held in 1948. The Regatta was originally intended as a platform for sailors to show their arts and skills, the organisation was then taken on by the Yacht Club Scheveningen. Many different classes can be seen competing such as Olympic and former Olympic classes, one design classes, catamarans and dinghies.
The 2013 North Sea Regatta will take place on the 17 – 20th May and forms the first event for the Gazprom Swan 60 Class.
