As the two new Swan 60 yachts enter the final build stages in the Nautor’s Swan yard in Pietarsaari, Finland, the Gazprom Swan 60 Class team took the chance to speak to one of the new owners. Mr Fan from China explains the reasons behind his choice of yacht.

Firstly, what made you choose to buy a Swan 60 yacht?

I feel that the Swan 60 chose me, rather than me choosing her. I decided a while ago that I wanted to have a very nice sailing yacht as my birthday gift, and the Swan 60 fit this need perfectly. She has a great balance between cruising and racing and I will be able to use her for both pleasure and business. She stands out over other yachts on the market, with perfect craftsmanship and easy handling.

What are your plans for 2014 with your new Swan 60?

After the delivery of my Swan 60 I will take her to join the Gazprom Swan 60 Class 2014 Circuit, taking part in the three circuit regattas this year. I will also be using her to cruise with my son, around the Med. I can’t wait to have some quality time with him, in the beautiful ocean on the yacht without the distraction of computer games! I also have a very strong team to race with me now, and I am expecting great results this year, it is definitely going to be an unforgettable life experience!

Mr Fan’s Swan 60 will be delivered ahead of the Nord Stream Race which takes place at the end of May.
