Built by Nautor’s Swan, the Swan 60 model was engineered to satisfy a growing demand for a yacht designed around both performance and style.
Using the latest technology, design and construction methods, the Swan 60 combines a voluminous interior, large cockpit and practical helm position, which provides space for unhindered movement around the boat.
The Swan 60 is associated with an ease of handling and the performance orientated yacht has excellent systems onboard; including the Magic-Trim mainsheet which allows the main to be dumped if a big bear away is required. There are some very handy remote-control systems that make the boat easy to cruise short-handed and all of the winches are electric.
Racing sailors will appreciate the carbon hull, mast and PBO rigging; the flared topsides are ideal for aggressive hiking.
As well as an entirely new hull built from advanced materials, this model’s improved sea-keeping qualities are due to a very low drag, keel and rudder, and in addition a long dynamic waterline of 16.7 metres at displacement and semi-planing speeds. The boat’s high stability, direct steering system, and foils with a forgiving performance all add up to a responsive yacht.
Race teams enjoy unhindered movement around the boat at all times, with the use of powered winches to assist in trimming race sails including the 125.85 square metres of mainsail and asymmetric spinnaker covering 320 square metres.
The addition of carbon fiber spars and racing foils with a draught of 3.6 metres produces a consistent racing performance for the Swan 60 – ideal for both inshore and offshore situations in the active international racing fleet.
There are currently 8 Swan 60 yachts on the water and another 2 in build at the Nautor’s Swan yard in Pietarsaari, Finland.
