2014 Rolex Swan Cup final results Determined

The 18th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup has drawn to a close in light winds from 6-10 knots and unbroken sunshine throughout the day.  Race number 6 of the event mirrored the overall results for the event with Wohpe in first, followed by @robas in second and Bronenosec in third with a 6 point lead over their next competitor.  The new USA entry on board Petite Flamme had another solid day which helped to confirm their 4th position and Peter Lebrandt’s Danish team stayed in the top half of the fleet in 5th spot, a real change in performance from earlier in the week.

Vladimir Liubomirov used this event with his Swan 60 Bronenosec to push forward with their consistently excellent 2014 Gazprom Swan 60 circuit results, “we feel as a team that we triumphed in the stronger winds, especially with our considerable breakages on one day and we feel comforted that Vertical Smile and Petite Flamme were the only boats in contention with us from the circuit”.

Leonid Klepikov, Trimmer, Bronenosec, noted the significantshift less than one minute before the start of the final race today, “it was a reaching start with a major shift so the boats to leeward controlled the fleet,we pushed on towards the North side of the course to more pressure and passed SGM, we were 4th to the first mark. It then became very light so we again went North for more breeze meaning we passed Petite Flamme.  At Moriotto we tried to cut the corner to beat @robas but we couldn’t quite get through them”.

Roberto Lauro’s, Wohpe, spoke highly of his crew who were singing dockside, “my crew have been very impressive this week, we have raced in such a range of winds and course styles at this year’s Rolex Swan Cup.  We raced Giraglia Rolex Cup and then completed the Palermo Monte Carlo Race this year which helped gear us up for this event”.
